The Sukhothai Historical Park covers the ruins of Sukhothai, capital of the Sukhothai kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries, in what is now the north of Thailand. It is located about 430 kilometers north of Bangkok and near the modern city of Sukhothai, capital of the province with the same name.

This immaculately restored park, officially opened in July 1988, is set among leafy hills and peaceful lotus ponds, lying some 7.5 miles from present day Sukhothai town. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park comprises the ruins of palace, temples, and historical monuments, including the famed Royal Palace and Wat Mahathat.

Thousands of visitors come to Sukhothai Historical Park each year to admire the ancient Buddha figures, old palace buildings and ruined Buddhist temples.

Another famous attraction in Sukhothai is the Si Satchanalai Historical Park.
