A superb mountain top temple
The history of this temple comes from about 60-70 years ago when the inhabitants of three small villages, living surrounded of mountains and solid forests were unable to visit the nearby temples due the transportation was very difficult. In 1939, a monk appeared in the villages and the residents wanted he live among them. The villagers joined together to build a small Buddhist temple, and called it “Temple of the Mountain”.
Formerly known as Wat Kloy Set, in 1963, the Department of Public Welfare expropriated the land of the mountain because was not suitable for farming, and gave new fertile land suitable for agriculture to the farmers, but the small temple remained there.
The small temple was abandoned by decades and in 2002 the government allowed to build a Buddhist monastery in the place, which was finished in September 19, 2009. However it’s still under constant renovation. Wat Pa Phu Hai Long is 29 meters wide and 29 meters long, and was build in a area of just 30 rai.
Since Wat Pa Phu Hai Long is located on the summit of a mountain one can enjoy stunning views in the early morning.
