Wat Phra Thong is the second most important Buddhist temple in Phuket. It is located around 20 km from Phuket town in Thepkrasattri Road, Thalang, and the temple contains a half buried Golden Buddha statue.
Legends say that during the invasion of Thalang town by the Burmese invaders, they tried to excavate the statue in order to take it back to Burma. They tried to dig the Buddha image out of the ground but it would not budge.
